Woman tests positive for swine flu

Madurai: A 27-year-old woman has tested positive for AH1N1 influenza in Madurai while five of her relatives are suspected to have been infected with the virus

Sources said the woman, who recently delivered a baby, is showing severe symptoms of the contagion and is undergoing treatment at an isolation ward in the GH in Madurai.

Blood samples and a throat swab from her, sent to Kings Institute in Chennai, confirmed that she has swine flu. The patient, who hails from Ilayangudi, was referred to the Government Rajaji hospital, Madurai, by a private hospital in Paramakudi.
